Privacy & Cookie Policy

Last updated: 28 July 2026

This policy explains what personal data Zenyra collects when you use our website and fragrance quiz, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it. It is written to meet our obligations under the UK GDPR, the EU GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).

1. Who we are

Zenyra is operated by Saif Imran, trading as Zenyra (“we”, “us”), who is the data controller responsible for your personal data. For any privacy question, or to exercise your rights, contact us at saif@zenyraapp.com. If you need a postal address for written correspondence, we will provide one on request.

2. The information we collect

Information you give us:

  • Quiz answers and your Taste Map. When you take the quiz we record your answers and the resulting profile — your scores across the five axes (warmth, projection, risk, texture and sweetness), your archetype, and the recommendations generated for you.
  • Account information. If you create an account or save a Taste Map, we hold the identifiers needed to keep you signed in and to store your saved results. You can use the quiz without an account, in which case a temporary anonymous identifier is used; if you later create an account, your earlier activity can be linked to it.
  • Email address. If you subscribe to updates or ask us to email your results, we store your email address together with the date you gave consent.
  • Gifting flow. If you use Zenyra to choose a fragrance for someone else or share a result, we process the information you enter for that purpose.
  • Feedback. If you report a mismatch or contact us, we keep what you send so we can respond and improve the service.

Information collected automatically:

  • Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used — which pages are visited, how people move through the quiz, and roughly where in the world visitors come from. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and assigns your browser a random identifier. Google receives your IP address in order to estimate your approximate location; in Google Analytics 4 IP addresses are not stored. We do not use analytics to advertise to you, and we do not combine it with your account or your Taste Map.
  • Essential local storage. To make the site work we store small amounts of information in your browser — for example to keep you signed in, to remember your quiz progress and saved fragrances, and to record your preferences. This is strictly necessary to provide the features you have asked for.

3. How and why we use your data

We use your personal data for the following purposes, each with a lawful basis under the UK GDPR:

  • To provide the quiz, your Taste Map and recommendations — our legitimate interest in operating the service, and, where you have an account, performance of our agreement with you.
  • To save and show you your results — performance of our agreement with you (the account features you request).
  • To send you marketing emails and updates — your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
  • To improve Zenyra and keep it secure — our legitimate interest in understanding aggregate usage, including through Google Analytics, and in preventing misuse.
  • To respond to your requests and feedback — our legitimate interest in supporting our users.

4. Cookies and local storage

Zenyra uses two kinds of browser storage. The first is strictly necessary to run the site — keeping you signed in, remembering your quiz progress and saved fragrances, and holding your preferences. The second is analytics: Google Analytics 4 sets cookies so it can tell repeat visits apart from new ones.

We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not sell or share what analytics collects. We are working on a consent control that will let you turn analytics cookies off before they are set; until it is in place you can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, or install Google's official opt-out extension, and the site will continue to work normally.

5. Who we share your data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers that help us run Zenyra, who act on our instructions:

  • Supabase — database, authentication and hosting for your account and results.
  • Lovable — application hosting and authentication infrastructure.
  • Brevo — sending our emails, if you have subscribed.
  • Cloudflare — content delivery and security.
  • Google — Google Analytics 4, for aggregate usage measurement.

When you click a link to buy a fragrance from a retailer, you leave Zenyra and the retailer's own privacy policy applies. Some of these links are affiliate links. We may also disclose data where required by law.

6. International data transfers

Some of our service providers are located outside the UK and European Economic Area. Where your data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards — such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or a recognised adequacy decision — so that your data receives an equivalent level of protection.

7. How long we keep your data

We keep your quiz results and account data for as long as your account is active or until you ask us to delete them. Marketing subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe; if you unsubscribe, we keep a minimal record of your request so that we can honour it. Where data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.

8. Your rights

Under the UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • have inaccurate data corrected;
  • have your data erased;
  • restrict or object to how we use your data;
  • receive your data in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent at any time, without affecting earlier processing.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at saif@zenyraapp.com. We will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk, though we would ask you to contact us first.

9. Marketing communications

We only send marketing emails to people who have asked to receive them. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time via our unsubscribe page.

10. Profiling and automated decisions

Zenyra builds a profile of your fragrance preferences from your quiz answers in order to generate recommendations. These recommendations are suggestions only — they do not have any legal or similarly significant effect on you, and there is no automated decision-making of that kind on the site.

11. Children

Zenyra is intended for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “last updated” date above, and for significant changes we will take reasonable steps to let you know.

13. Contact us
